Youth Literacy Program
Using literature is a powerful way to help children understand and cope with mental health challenges and help youth understand complex situations. Books can help build empathy, foster connectedness, and help start conversations between family members and friends.
Below, we have information about the books that NAMI of McHenry County has available. Please reach out to education@namimch.org if you are interested in scheduling a read-aloud.
Click on any of the books below to learn more about the plot for each book. We also have crafts that go with our books to reinforce the theme that was discussed and promote self-regulation strategies.
This program is designed to be flexible! You can either create an event based on the books and crafts we have available, or NAMI staff can decide the selection!
